Types of Hybrid Work Model

The hybrid work model can take different forms depending on the organization and the type of work being done. Hybrid workplace is still a new and a rapidly developing concept. Because of that there are many definitions about the types of Hybrid Work model and in the future, there will be more varieties of hybrid model concepts. Lenka (2021) states about three types of hybrid work model. First one is Remote first model . In this model, the majority of employees, along with the leadership team, would typically work remotely. However, if there was an urgent need for physical presence, a few employees could handle it one or two days per month. The office space would be physically present, and anyone wishing to use it for official purposes could do so, though not frequently, only when necessary. Situation after the pandemic made one thing clear about the global workforce. They want flexibility on how and where do they want to work. This environment made companies listen to that and find solutions.  According to a Salesforce survey (2020), at least 64% of workers like the idea of working from outside the office occasionally. Another 37% want to continue full-time work from home after the pandemic. It shows that everyone is not convinced that hybrid is the way to go. “Hybrid work,” where employees spend some of their work days in the physical office and the rest of their work days working remotely, is emerging as a novel form of organizing knowledge work globally (Teevan, 2021; Cutter, 2021). During the pandemic, business organizations had no other choice than switching to remote work which is also known as working from home. Remote working is defined as “a flexible work arrangement whereby workers work in locations, remote from their central offices or production facilities, the worker has no personal contact with co‐workers there, but is able to communicate with them using technology” (Di Martino & Wirth, 1990, p. 530).
